Personal Profile
I'm Nick, a programmer and musician from New Zealand. Originally from Taranaki, I have frequently traveled New Zealand and the world over the past decade. Now settling long-term in Christchurch, I am looking to transfer my many and varied computer-based skills to a new career path.
Programming Journey
I started using computers for creative work at an early age, and have always adapted quickly to new virtual environments. Initially learning programming with Unreal Engine’s Blueprints system, I found it was something I enjoyed and which came quite naturally to me. Later I invested in learning C to attain more foundational knowledge in low-level computing.
I have completed Harvard’s CS50x - Introduction to Computer Science course, in which I gained experience with Python, SQL databases, and web development, among other topics. I am currently focused on expanding my proficiency with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
I am a fast learner, and always willing to try new languages and skills. Adjacent skills include 3D modeling, image editing, and audio production.
Work History
I have a varied work history where I have proven myself to be reliable and hardworking across a range of industries. Due to traveling and relocating frequently I have typically relied on seasonal work and short-term roles. I have recent experience leading teams and coordinating workflows as supervisor of yard and coolstore operations in a busy packhouse. Since I will now be settling in Christchurch, I would like to transition to a long-term career path which makes better use of my skills.
